Meet the team
Managing Partner (Transactions)
Before founding Glencrest, John was the Principal in charge of capital transactions for one of the largest apartment landlords in the Western United States.
While at Prime Residential, John tripled the number of units owned; expanded into five new metropolitan areas; bought, sold and financed more than 35K units (> $8B transaction volume); and closed the largest single-asset financing in the history of Freddie Mac.
Prior to joining Prime, John was a real estate attorney with Orrick in their San Francisco office.
John is a licensed real estate broker in the state of California, an active member of the California State Bar, and has passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. He has a JD from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA with distinction from Northwestern University. John lives in San Francisco with his three children.
Managing Partner (Operations)
Mike has built and led three successful technology businesses focused on using data to personalize and improve end-user experiences.
Most recently, he was the co-founder and CEO of Everwise, a technology company focused on creating high value, personalized learning experiences for employees of clients such as Salesforce, Genentech, Twitter, Best Buy and AmEx. He led all aspects of the business with an emphasis on sales, marketing, product vision and fundraising ($26M of venture capital with Series B led by Sequoia Capital).
His first venture, Audium, grew into a market leader with its customer interaction technology that, today, helps personalize billions of calls for large enterprises around the globe. After selling Audium to Cisco in 2006, Mike led product for Cisco’s customer contact business unit and, eventually, led strategy for the enterprise collaboration division.
He also co-founded adMarketplace, an early advertising-technology provider and was a strategy consultant with First Manhattan Consulting specializing in helping to calculate, drive strategy and operate with customer-level profitability, work that led to the widely adopted discipline of customer-relationship management.
He earned an engineering degree with honors from Cornell University and lives with his wife and young son in San Francisco.
Director of Asset Management
Prior to joining Glencrest, J.D. spent eight years at FPA Multifamily, a nationally recognized real estate investment firm, where he focused on all facets of the multifamily industry. During his tenure at FPA, J.D. held roles in property, construction, asset and portfolio management, due diligence, and acquisitions. Most recently, J.D. was FPA's Western U.S. Portfolio Manager where he was responsible for executing the business plan of more than 50 properties spanning 8,500 units, nine states and multiple investment strategies. Prior to FPA, J.D. worked at Cushman & Wakefield.
He graduated from Redwood High School and then attended Cornell University where he received a degree in economics with a minor in real estate. While at Cornell, J.D. was a member of the Varsity Rowing team, as well as the school’s athletic honor society. He is currently a member of the Urban Land Institute, Belden Club, and Marin Rowing Association and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
J.D. resides in Marin County with his wife, Kaylie.
Business Operations Administrator
Marci has more than a decade of experience in commercial real estate and financial services .
She’s held senior admin roles in property management and was on the asset management team at a real estate crowdfunding startup.
Marci holds an MS in real estate from New York University and a BS in business administration from California State University, Sacramento. Marci lives in San Francisco.
Rachel brings nearly three decades of multi-family experience to the Glencrest team. Most recently, she was Vice President of Operations for Prime Residential. At Prime, she oversaw the Regional Management and Regional Maintenance Management teams across a number of markets including Oregon, Washington, Denver, Northern California and Reno. Additionally, she led company-wide compliance and safety training and was instrumental in a number of key strategic initiatives, including transitioning property management in-house, implementing revenue management across the portfolio and developing two new roles: the Director of Leasing and Marketing and Lead Management Specialist.
She began her career in apartment leasing with Commonwealth Pacific and has held multiple roles in property management and apartment site leadership and operations. Rachel also has years of acquisition underwriting, sales training and extensive capital improvement and construction management experience.
She studied business marketing at Portland State University, is a lifelong Portland resident and has two sons.
Head of Marketing
Most recently, Alex led and transaction support for a high volume residential and commercial real estate team in New York City.
She holds an active real estate license in Massachusetts and earned a BA and a BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Alex lives west of Boston with her fiancé and their dog.
Stacey brings nearly a decade of multi-family operations experience to the Glencrest team. Most recently, she was an Area Portfolio Manager for Essex Property Trust, one of the largest residential property owners on the west coast.
She began her career as a leasing consultant with Equity Residential.
Stacey has overseen most residential property types: high-rise, lease-ups, multi-million dollar renovations, marina operations, garden style, mid-rise, rent control, and affordable housing.
She holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and lives in Danville, CA with her husband and two sons.
